Can't answer your question because although i have a new 58 reg yaris sr like yourself,Toyota haven't yet supplied me with the tom tom unit!

Their explanation is that they were designed with 1 gig of memory and they don't function properly on this with hundreds being returned. So i have a hole in my dash until they manufacture some new units with 2 gig of memory!!!!!!!

You might want to check which unit you have been supplied with.

In a word....yes. I've used a number of different size pen drives ranging from 1Gb up to 4Gb. With the 4Gb ones it does take some time to scan all the songs first before you can start playing them. It scans the device every time you either insert the device or, if it's already plugged in, power up the stereo.

As long as the songs are in an accepted format it will play them. Check in the manual for what's supported. My ipod also works when plugged into the usb connection aswell, but again only file types which are supported by the unit.

Had mine since October and no issues to report, Takes about 1/2 a mile to read my 30gb ipod before it will play.

It does play all the songs on it, even those in itunes format, however it just has random letters instead of the correct titles. I am used to it now though so i know that !adgfnmjnbi" is actually Bloc Party - Mercury!

......You get used to it!
