Help! Leak Into Yaris Car Footwell

JF Harris, water drops from the windshield into a trough at the rear of the engine bay. The wiper motor is in this trough.  At each end of the trough there are drain holes (slits). They are over the rear of the wheel arches. These have to be kept clear of course. I would assume a better solution is to seal up these two drain slits, then drill two holes into the side of the trough, insert some rubber tube, sealed to the side of the trough, fixed with cable ties, and then direct the water away to the ground via the engine bay.
