It's happened quite a few times now whenever I'm parked and I do a complete steering turn I hear a sort of cling from somewhere near the steering rack (from the engine bay). I 've checked for steering play ball joints, bellows cracks and all is ok....any suggestions but might be wrong with my RS?

Check if the front springs are ok. One might have broken ;)

Don't wanna sound like the steering police, but you should know that steering whilst stationary, (Dry steering, to give it it's proper name) wears out not only tyres but many of the components linked to the steering system! The damage CAN occur at quite low mileage too!
