How do you alter the instrument panel lights to dim them for night use?

A friend has the Yaris not me.

Turn the lights on, then hold down the right button on the front of the display, if its a MK1 than hold down the right button again when the lights are on

Depends on which Yaris it is, the new one or the old shape one?

They should automatically dim when you turn on side-lights or dipped too...

They do on both versions but that can be over ridden so the instruments are always bright

I use the right button as above but with my car it only works if the left button is set to temperature.

Used this on my Car last night, now got a dimmer display, so great! always thought it was a bit bright!
