Hi I have just bought a 2002 GS Yaris free-tronic and as i am new to this free-tronic thing i was wondering how often they tend to drop fluid in the free-tronic bit? (very technical speak i know! lol) It has 82k on the clock and i am not sure from the service history when this was last looked at but i wanted to get an idea so i am prepared if i have to make regular trips to Toyota i have booked it in for a service anyway. Its a lovely little car and i like it very much its nice to drive also i had a 2002 manual before and loved it until someone wrote it off so i am a big Yaris fan! Any advice on free-tronics gratefully recieved thank you in advance.

Kind regards

Sasi :D

Shouldnt really lose fluid as is a sealed system. Pretty sure the fluid gets changed every 20k miles on them. Freetronic system is basically a manual gearbox with clutch and has a unit that presses clutch for you when changing gear. Pretty clever stuff.
