How Much Should I Pay To Top-up Coolant?

When I had my Yaris serviced last November, I was advised that my coolant could do with topping-up. The quote was £40. This is at an official Toyota dealer btw. Is this too much? I've checked the level myself, and it really does require just a top-up. I would rather someone else do it for me, and I don't mind paying £40 - I just wanted to make sure that this is the going rate. :)

Top up you can do yourself, just make sure you use the same colour coolant. As you said they said £40 sounds like it needs a coolant change. They would have tested the strength of the coolant. Any local garage will be able to check coolant strength and tell you if it needs changing. If it doesnt just top it up. An independant garage would do a coolant change for about £25.

Thanks for the reply. I've checked the service sheet and you're right, it was a coolant change they advised, not a top-up. I might just take it to the dealer for peace of mind.
