Engine Swap + All Wheel Conversion

Ive got a 93 GT-R currently with the ST-183 body, 3S-GE engine.

Im looking to convert it to AWD and drop the 3S-GTE engine in then upgrade the turbo, so on and so forth.

How possible is this going to be and at what price am i looking? Labor is not nessessary as i can do most of the work with just me and my buddy.

Will the 3S-GTE engine fit into the body style i have? And if i just took the GT4 with alltrac already can i just use its transmission?

I know you would be thinking well why not just buy a GT4 but i waiting 2 months importing this from japan so im not letting it go to easy.

Let me know if you got any info on it.

alot of work involved, there wont be a channel for rear prop shaft, rear diff will hit fuel tank, exhaust will probably need moving, thats for starters , but im no expert.

the rear floor pan is completely different on the ST-182 so would either need a custom subframe making or an ST-185 rear floorpan and rear chassis rails grafting in. TBH it would work out cheaper to buy a GT4 in the first place. if you wanted to just put a 3S-GTE in and keep it FWD then that would be simple and relativlty cheap to do. use an ST-185 engine along with an MR2 turbo gearbox you will need to make up an MR2 turbo/GT4 driveshaft set though

yeah i kinda figured alot of work would have been involved. I already have the MR2 gear box on my tranny. The gears are shorter which is nice. Is the 185's engine a simple swap? I used to own a ford probe and switching its stock engine to the KLZ engine was easy so i figured this might be fairly simple as well. Also the exhaust would be switched out so that could work. Im going with a catback borla 3" dual exhaust system so i could potentially move it enough to fit the rear diff so i dont hit the gas tank.

Another question, ive already installed 2 turbos into my friends cars so i know what to do. instead of doin the swap there, cause my engine only has 75k on it (or 47m) so its fairly new. Would i just be easier to install the turbo on there instead of doing the swap?

the ST-185 swap is pretty straight forward. you will need the loom and ecu as well. the non-turbo MR2 box is diferent to the turbo one though and will have a limited life on the turbo engine, also the turbo clutch plate is different.

if you have done engine swaps before this one shouldnt be too hard.

not much point in just putting the turbo on the 3S-GE as the internals are different. you would need to lower the compression as well as fit stronger pistons etc.

ok so basically its just buying parts to fit and putting them in, nothing like rocket science.
