A quick update on my car and if you and Nigel have any further thoughts as to what I can do nect then please let me know. Well, after driving it last Thursday I noticed the problem with the car swerving to the left and some swerve to the right was getting worse, especially after turning right at roundabouts. So I called RAC Thursday night, and the chappie said before he even took it for a test drive that it sounds like something serious. He took it away and was back in 5 minutes and said there IS something SERIOUSLY wrong with the car! Asked for us to check wether it had been involved with a RTA with previous owner and have a full geometrical test done. He said the car wasn't self centering and didn't even bother checking the braking system as he said he abandoned the test drive out of concern. He doubted very much as to how roadworthy the car is! He did I should mention that he say that Toyota are one of the most reliable car manufacturers in the world and they RAC have the Toyota contract. So Kev calls RAC legal services Friday and they said if the mechanic has said this then the car is probably close to be being unroadworthy and it is an illegal offence for Arnold Clark to sell it. we call Autocare (my warranty provider) who said they will get AA to collect the car from home and take it to Toyota Wolverhampton as Arnold Clark have seen to it twice and say it was tracking and that this has now been corrected. RAC also recommended main dealership to imvestigate. So Toyota phone me back later that afternoon was to say there was nothing wrong with the car and that it was perfect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When questioned they said they had looked at the brakes and something else or another but not done the geometrical test that RAC had suggested!! After much tooing and froing they said they would do it today but are confident that it will show no fault!!

So guys, what do you reckon?? RAC can't have got it so wrong. Will be phoning RAC back to ask the for some advice after I hear from Toyota today. Sooooooooooo annoyed as have had to hire a car (mainly for work purposes!!)and albeit a very smart Vectra! and been told that if no fault is found warranty won't pay for it!!

One fed up Toyota driver! :(

sounds nasty (& AC don't have the best reputation up here once they have sold you a car) but how can this be an update when it appears to be your 1 & only post?

Try taking it to a different Toyota dealer and ask them to test drive it for a second opinion if you have no joy with A.C.

yeh the update was sent to my colleagues to keep them up to speed with what was happening, they're as intrigued as i am to get to the bottom of the problem!! have confirmed that it was one of the models called back for a recall due to steering problems, but apparently the remedial work required was done. not liking what i#7'm hearing about AC!

update, Toyota have confirmed that it was one of the recalled models for steering faults in 2006. they are kepping it for a couple of days to test drive it around and see if the fault occurs again. surely me and Rac can't both be mad!!! for a 2005 model how much do you think i'd get for a part exchange, taking into account that Toyota are saying it has no fault!!
