Hello everyone

My 2003 1.8 vvti celica is due for its 60k service, i have in the past taken it to gordon lambs which is a toyota dealer but found them really expensive i am thinking of taking it to a normal garage for the service not sure if thats wise or not ? , Does anyone know roughly the costs for the service? Also does the celica have a cam belt or is it chain drive?

many thanks

si

Hi mate.

They're chain driven cams which answers your first question.

The dealer/ none dealer choice is one of those things that can go on for a long time. Before giving my opinion I'd first have to ask how it's running now, is it burning oil yet or has it previously had the oil burning issue? The reason for me asking is that a full Toyota history can be very useful when making a claim because of that issue.

You're very unlikely to encounter the Oil loss problem if your 140 is the face lift model. The 60K is a major Service inc. Spark Plug replacement, I can put you onto a top class mechanic who I trust implicitly, his workshop is a 40 minute drive from Sheffield near J27 M1. Let me know if you would like his contact details, he looks after quite a few Gen 7 owners from the Celica Club.
