Can anyone advise on the problem of the fifth gear jumping out on a two litre T spirit

It will run fine if I hold the gear stick in firm but it jumps out as soon as I let go.

It will also stay in place when de accelerating say on the motorway but as soon as I accelerate it pops out………any advice please?

Like Igor says, problem is probably with 5th gear synchro hub. Thrust on the gear is in the opposite direction when decelerating, so stays in.
