Rear Suspension Link Arm Bushes

Hello one and all,

Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction...

Recently had my 50K service at Mr T. (T3-X, 2004, 1.8 Auto)

Told by Mr T that both offside and nearside rear top suspension link arm bushes had come off. (Toyota part number 48770 21011)

They are quoting me £450 total to do the job - part alone is £110 each! Needless to say this is a bit hard to swallow at the moment, and am looking to try and source items cheaper if possible!

Can anyone out there advise of any reliable motor factor suppliers that I can make enquiries with? Has anyone had similar problems? I thought I read a topic related to this not so long ago, but cant seem to find it now! :-(

Thanks in advance for any advice/help!

Cheers

Mike

To carinfront,

Just to confirm, you do mean link arms that bolt to chassis & then bolt to top of rear hub on both sides. You have West London as your location, you could try Lloyds Motor Factor in Burnt Oak or Ealing. Also Midnight Motors at the back of Wembley Stadium.

Regards, Beagh.

If its the top arms then that price seems a little steep. Did they include a wheel alignment check in that price? Maybe get a sencond quote from elsewhere.

Hello again,

Beagh and PhilGee, apologies but I do not know exactly which part of it they were referring to. I was dealt with by one of the service desk staff, who was merely relaying what was on the service sheet.

Having just called them back, I spoke to the Parts guy, asking for a "full description"!

He tells me that its part of the rear suspension, boomerang shaped arm on the knuckle from the wheel to the chassis, with a bush on it. Also tells me that they are not sold seperately, its the whole lot I need to buy, when in fact its just the rubbers that have come off. He said their proper name for it is called Upper Control Arm, and are now £113 plus VAT.

He said the price of £450 sounds likely to include a 4 wheel alignment as well.

Owch!

I may very well try the motor factors recommended!

Welcome to other ideas/recommendations from anyone else who may have any!

Thanks again folks.

Mike
