2009 Avensis Built In Bluetooth

Hi,

Just wondering if anybody else has had problems connecting their phones with the built in carkit on the new 2009 Avensis ? onlyI'm experiencing a few problems with the Nokia N85.

When I initially pair the N85 up with the carkit it works fine, when I switch the ignition off the handset displays disconnected, which is also fine. The problem is when I switch the ignition back on again the carkit shows connected, the brackets around the bluetooth symbol appear on the handset and then the handset almost immidiatly displays "disconnected"

i.e. as soon as the carkit auto-connects with the N85, the N85 straight away drops the connection.

I've so far tried it with N85, E90, E71 and the problem is the same, but I've also tried it with 6212c, Samsung Omnia, and Blackberry and it works perfectly every time.

By the way, there was no problems at all with any handset when testing with the old Pre 2009 Avensis.

Had a Rav4 in today with the same prob. Loks like a problem with the headunit/sat nav. I'm guessing you have full screen sat nav with yours being a TR? Get it in to the dealers and let them know you're having bother.

Yeah it's the full screen sat nav.

Seems strange that the same phone works fine with the previous Avensis but not the 2009 one indicating an issue with the car, but then at the same time i'm not having any problems with say a 6212c or Samsung, or blackberry it just seems to be certain Nokia models which indicates a problem with the phone... but it can't be as it works fine with the older Avensis... could go round in circles with this one.

Something must have changed with the bluetooth from the old Avensis to the new one and certain Nokia models are more tolerant of it than others, is perhaps the best way of putting it, who's responsability it is to put it right? is a good question.

It's a company car so I've got on to the guy who deals with it, and also a quick e-mail to Nokia. If I ever find a resolution to the problem I'll post it here.

Having the same problems with a Nokia E51 also on a 2009 model. Only just got it so need a solution too. Geoff.

Had this problem at first then realised the bluetooth was recognising my phone (SE k850i) as a bluetooth audio device instead of a phone. Make sure it is pairing your phone as a phone and it will work sweetly.

No solution to this as yet, but I have found a workaround

1) Pair the phone up

2) Switch ignition off

3) Make a call

4) Switch ignition back on again

5) Call should then transfer to the HF kit

6) Hang up

It should work normally then for the duration of your trip. For the next trip just make sure the phone is in a call before starting the car.
