Cabin Smells

Hi all,

I've had a 2003 T3-S, 43K, for about three weeks now, and all in all i'm happy..

However I've noticed that it seems to draw in external odours more than any other car I've owned.

For example, when following an 'old banger' the smell from the exhaust of the car in front is really quite strong. Other cars I have had occasionally did the same, but no where near as pronounced. It doesnt happen all the time, and I'm sure it isnt coming from my car as such.

Is this normal?

Tay.... I don't know about the Avensis, well not yet anyway but the similar thing happens to me from time to time in my current car.... I find it quite annoying. I simply think it is when we get behind a stinky car and not the cars we are driving. I would have thought being in a LC I would be too high to draw the exhaust smells in but it still happens

I knew someone would say that! ;-)

I do wonder if somethng isnt quite right, I know its common in most cars but it just seems particularly bad in the avensis. When stuck in a traffic jam, I have to open the window to get some fresh air!

That is a good question but I feel the smells pass through If I experience it I simply put the ventilation system on recirculate with the air con and it generally clears the problem

No I havent I must admit. I have checked it and cleaned it up, to be honest it didnt seem to bad..
