Hydraulic Boot Strut

Hi there.

A few months ago the hydraulic boot strut went on the drivers side of my 04 plate Avensis D4D 2.0. I have phoned Toyota and thay are quoting £72+VAT. Having phoned a few scrap yards I am not having much luck finding a used one.

Is ther anywhere in the South Wales area that can get cheap Toyota parts or am I just gonna have to pay Toyota or keep trying scrap yards? I live in the Porthcawl area in South Wales.

Any help much appreciated.

You have a few options.

1. find and fit a second hand one, although you have no guarantees that this will be an improvement or a long lasting fix on what you already have.

2. Get your strut regassed - there's a company in Derby called Status Fluid Power who do a mail order regassing service. The condition of the seals within the strut will dictate as to how well this works.

3. Drop a PM to Parts King in the Lindop Toyota section of this site. If you buy new from Toyota then he'll get you the best price.

find a scrap yard that you can walk around and have a look, take your old strut with you and find one from another car the same length and fitting, i have a strut go on the wifes kia and was quoted daft money for new ones, found that a rover 800 ones were the same and most i looked at were made by the same company anyway!!!
