Avensis Oil Decrease?

Hi Guys,

I just bought an avensis T4 1.8 vvti, with 44 K on the clock. The oil when I bought it wsa about 1 cm on the dipstick, but today when I checked it, it had reduced significantly. I had to add about half a liter of oil to get to same level. I have driven it about 1300 miles during last 2 weeks.

Is this the norm? Someone told me that vvti does burn/reduce oil, so not sure what is the norm? what are other people's experience?

i have the same car as yourself my car uses about 1 litre per 600 miles if u check the other threads you will see it a well knowing problem

Common problem with the 1.8 Vvti engine, known fault to Toyota who will fit a new short motor free of charge, service history, age and mileage permitting. Read the article at the link below.

do not lose the time and claim this to Toyota to swap short motor.
