I drive like a nun on a Sunday afternoon. I’m also very tight so like to save fuel and the life of my tyres!

That's not a bad time considering the book figure of 13seconds......

Crazy, how did you manage that time? What have you done to your Yaris?

I haven't put the 8.7 seconds to the test yet in my T- Sport, I can't bring myself to rag it off the line like that! Though I am happy to floor it once I'm moving.

I think i'll probably try soon, when there's a decent dry day up here. The weather has been terrible here! :S

Anyone got a time for a t-sport? Definately considering saving up for one to them! :P

Not too good for your licence either if you get caught doing it on public roads

(Before anyone says that 0-60 is within the legal speed limit............I KNOW, but the police can and do prosecute for what they call "Driving without due care" .........which they interperate 0-60 time testing on public roads as.)

well i didnt know that. I thought itd be ok doing it on a straight national speed limit road, specially with it being empty.

Please do not tell me that it was you using the phone stopwatch whilst driving?

If your mate was in the passenger seat and operating the phone stopwatch ...........How could he see the speedo??

BTW Yaris speedos are well known for "overreading" optomistically so it is doubtful that you even reached 60 MPH when you thought that you did.

Your best bet would be to take your Yaris to Santa Pod and try the drag strip for a truely "independent" performance measurement

Best thread EVER.

had you infact pushed the car over a cliff? Strong wind behind you? Did you infact manage to bend the laws of physics around you?

Given the T-sport with 103bhp has a claimed 0-60 of 8.7 I struggle to see how a 1.0 with 67bhp can do it in 8.5.

Protest all you like - but your Yaris is not a quick car, the 1.0 isn't designed to be a quick car. If you wanted something nippy, should have bought somethign with a slightly bigger engine.

Hey dude, I don't mean to **** on ur bonfire but you should've been lookng at the MPH and not the KPH scale, better still get a sat nav or proper data recorder. I thought the 1.0 was around 14.1 sec's to 60MPH.

Just as a tip if anyone feels compelled to cook the clutch on doing some 0-60 figures. Find a section of road with some 'Shell grip' laid down (generally applied in accident black spots or in front of crossings where hard braking can be required). It is an anti skid dressing and has approx twice the coefficient of friction that HRA or DBM offers (most common road surfaces) it'll help you off the line but don't forget to dial in some extra revs to prevent the engine bogging down. Also road surfaces are actually gripier when cool 10 - 15 degrees, plus the air is denser when cold so your engine will perform better too. Sorry to be so up on road surfaces but I used to do skid testing for the council and local police so know a bit about it.

Hope I never meet you for a traffic light grand prix as my T Sport would likely suffer a humiliating defeat; either that or I'd hit 60 in under 4 seconds by your stop watch!

I R driving a 1.0 yaris back and forth to work, it takes about 20 seconds to get up any speed at the mo.

I can't see how the 1.0 Yaris can get to 60 in under the book stated time for my 'Rolla T Sport. Sorry! :P

Holy *****, this is an interesting thread. I got a 1 litre, stripped the seats out an all that and i have a 0-60 time of im guessing 12 to 13seconds. Not 8.5... its just not do-able without a tuuurrboooo!!!! plus if you are going for 0-60 on your clock... that will most likely be out and more around 54mph.
