New Owner With Speaker Questions + Sub

Hello all,

Just bought a yaris yesterday. Its a 2000 model. Just wondering if anyone can give advice on some Speakers. I have bought the adapter ring so I can fit bigger Speakers into the front doors but could anyone reccomend some model numbers of Speakers that dont need any modding for clearance. I have read around here and im I right in thinking with the ring, 48mm depth will fit and wont catch on anything, like the FLI speakers.

Next question, I have bought the dash kit to fit my own stereo, am I right in thinking that I dont need a cage? I have bought a cage, but since joining here it seems I may not need one?

And one last one, does anyone have a how to guide on where to bring the live wire for the sub into the car through the glove or something?

Thanks in advance to all who can help

Most Speakers you will need to mount them on a speaker ring, or something similar.

Trying to mount them directly on the door, would make them rattle too much without putting some damping material on first, and possibly the depth of the Yaris door might be to shallow too.

If you not picked the Speakers yet, go somewhere like your local Halford or car audio shop, and have a listen, or even better, try and find someone who will let you listen there Speakers in there car.

Looks for about 5.25" - 6.5" speakers, typical sizes, and look for a two way speaker.

This mean, the tweeter speaker is seperated from the main mid-range cone, or if your really want to got one better, go for components with both the tweeter/mid-range speakers are independent from each other.

There are so many makes/styles (Alpine/Infinity/MB Quarts/ Boston/ Sony, etc), it's down to personal taste in what you like about them, one person might say it sounds too squeeky but you might say it sounds perfect.

I personally like a sharp sounding speaker, but quite a few people says it sounds too sharp on the verge to being harsh sounding!!

Most H/U you but already come with a mounting cage, but thats more that fits around the H/U than for your car.

If you not opened it, or it still looks new, take it back.

To run power cable for sub, in the engine bay, find the main wiring loom that should be near the passenger footwell, and feed it throught that.
