I have a 1997 Camry LE and when I am at highway speed and step on the brakes, I get a violent shuddering/vibration in the steering wheel. The brakes and rotors look like they are in good shape. Does anybody know what might be going on?

Sounds like a warped disk.

Check your wheel torques too.
