Hi, I'm new to this and need some advise. I have a 05 Avensis 2.2 d4d (39000 mileage) that has developed a misfire over the last couple of months that has got worse. symptoms are : grey smoke from exhaust once started, misfiring and a knocking noise when in low revs. Have taken into a Toyota dealership and they have told me that the injectors need replacing, aswell as pipes, gasket rocker cover etc for the price of £1555.42. Have decided to get an engine diagnostic check done to find out whether all 4 injectors need changing or whether its just 1..... any ideas on the best way on dealing with this.... :crybaby:

hello mate

the sulphur in the diesel affects the injectors, even traders (oil compnies) try to refine crude oil to achieve the best quality of the diesel.

the above is just for guidance. OK now you've got a problem. you see it happens not at once but the power has become less and less during several months. It's an indicator of poor injection and as I ve typed in my early posts this is clear seen at an iddle running. Yes you can observe vibration of the engine due to each fuel valve injects diesel with not equivalent proportions to an air sucted/delivered by turbocharger depending on current load. You observe knocking noise arised from the engine, as well. Have you tested all injectors since your ownership or not? In case of negative -- i deem you have some records on all adjustments performed recently. It is understood all four injectoors have to be taken off and tested (all together)to reach their performance at iddle running that is considered as constant cycle fuel injection.

Cheers/Igor
