Better Front Discs & Pads Needed!

I've recently been driving my sisters Yaris and the brakes are pretty poor and nearly dead.

Firstly where is the cheapest place to get original front discs and pads?

Toyota want £250 to do the job including parts (which seems stupidly expensive) but I might aswell do it myself and save some cash.

Secondly how much more will I be paying to upgrade as I would rather my sister be driving a safer car!

I have seen EBC pads on www.ebcbrakesdirect.com

Original Quality - £17.94

Green Stuff - £55.09

Is this price for ALL four?

EBC discs have 2 different sizes 235mm £28.74 each and 255mm £33.34 each - how do i know which one i need without taking the wheels off!?

They also do grooved 255mm for double the price... is this really worth it?

Thanks!

You could try asking Toyota if you have the chassis number to hand, as they may know from that.

There were diff sizes for some models but not sure how to work it out myself.

I have heard good things about black diamond, i think they are called. try euro car parts!

One would hope so!

I spoke with two 'technical' people at a local main Toyota dealer and neither of them could tell me what size discs were on my wife's Yaris, even with the VIN. One of them told me that both the 235mm and 255mm discs would fit

I had no choice but to whip off a wheel and measure up.

I did stumble across the below info whilst researching:

3x types of pads:

111MM X45MM WIDE (NON ABS) AKEBONO CALIPER

130MMX51MM WIDE (Bosch CALIPER)

116MM X50MM WIDE (WITH ABS) AKEBONO CALIPER

2x size front brake discs:

235MM (NON ABS)

255MM WIDE (ABS)

HTH

I had a similar problem when pricing up discs & pads for mine.

When i rang Toyota, gave them the reg no, they still couldn't tell me for sure what type of pads it needed!! :ffs:

I'm just letting mine get proper worn then i'll take a set of pads and a disc off and find replacements myself.

Oh and the cost from Toyota......iirc i'm sure it was something like £55 per disc!! :censor:
