Yaris Towbar

Hello Everyone,

Toyota Yaris T3 1.4D-D

This is my first Toyota and I am quite please with it so far, I purchased it new via a broker at a considerable discount. I was a little apprehensive about using a broker but it worked out fine and I would definitely recommend that route if the discount is right.

I've recently had a Toyota detachable towbar fitted to my car, my query concerns the height to the centre of the tow ball.

The height from the ground to the centre of the ball is approximately 480mm, from what I have been able to glean from other sources the standard height of a tow ball is normally between 350 - 420 mm.

Can anyone advise if this figure is correct, when I fit my trailer it requires the tow hitch to be lowered almost 120mm for the tow arm on the trailer to be level this seem a ridiculous variation.

I've put a query back to my local Toyota dealer but so far have not received a response, does anyone know if the detachable bars are interchangeable within the Toyota range i.e. have I ended up with a bar meant for a different Toyota model.
