Low Pressure Side Aircon Pipe

I have avensis 2005 d-4d t3-x (1cd-ftv engine).

One of the aircon pipes is leaking /see attachment - the leak area is marked in red/.

I haven't taken the pipe out yet but I can see it bubbles out the condensed gas and whistles.

Went to the local service and they are asking some £200 for a replacement pipe which I think is too much.

Can I get it elsewhere any cheaper or probably repair it /will an epoxy bath do the trick?/

hello

do not repair by epoxy !!!! it never brings success.

PM to PARRTS KING on here (check with pasts and previous pages) -- i think He will help to get new pipe.

After ask for respective service even at experienced workshop/s dealing with aircons repair.

Cheers/Igor

Besides -- the only welding or pipe changing is a real cure of your problem but not an epoxy.

cheers

If you can get the pipe off and can get your hands on a blow torch, some solder and flux its not a hard jod to repair it yourself, or even take it to your nearest fabricators and they should only charge a couple of quid to repair it

I ordered a new one.

The nearest garage asks for £150 to fit it.

Will have a go myself.

I also ordered a new OEM cruise control stalk for £15 /my car doesn't have CC, it's a T3-X / and hopefully will do both jobs together.

These pipes pretty common for splitting.

If you do it yourself you will need the clamp splitting tool or buy a new clamp where it joins near the bulkhead.

You will prob need to remove - front bumper, N/S/F headlamp, Battery, fuel filter, complete airbox.

Its quite fiddly too, and you may think the new pipe will never fit in but it does go lol.

(please note - releasing R134a A/C gas into the atmosphere is an offence so should really be degassed before removing pipe)

Mart.

I ended up in the garage. Didn't even have the chance to try it as I had to deal with something else and the guy was so convincing :censor: .

it was £183 for fitting and regassing - twice the price he mentioned.

To ease the pain I went on and fitted the cruise control myself :-)

So it is possible to fit cruise control on any avensis from 2003 onwards and all you need is the stalk (got mine from eBay and it is OEM Camry part).

the only tricky part was how to fix it to the steering wheel and I ended up drilling 2 holes.

strong cable ties will do the job too.

everything works perfect, even the cruise light on the dash
