Air Con Not Working

Hi I know there are several topics on Air Con but this IS different,

Okay here goes

Last spring the Aircon pump failed and was replaced, regassed and everything worked fine, (job done by local independant garage) During the early Autumn the Alernator failed causing several fuses to blow and some relays needed replacing. After the new alternator was fitted the Aircon would not work (job done by local independant garage) everything was checked as far as his work was concerned there was no gas leak in the system but the aircon pump would not activate from the controls on the dashboard. A trip to Mr Toyota and they said that there was a control panel malfunction (basically it was knackered due to the Alternator failure) and the cost to replace this was going to be around £800 + VAT + fitting. My wife used to work on electrical components making circuit boards for the phone industry and the Media, We was wondering therefore whether this panel could be fixed rather than Shell nearly a grand on a new one, my other option would be second hand does any one know the part number, apparently this unit is behind the Radio consul.....

Car is 03 plated D4D T3X

mileage 142000

The problem you usually get with trying to repair electronic control units from a vehicle is trying to identify the individual components on the circuit boards. The resistors are obviously resistors and diodes are obviously diodes etc but the ratings are a mystery due to 'in house' markings of the items that mean nothing to anyone but the original manufacturer. So a resistor could be 1 ohm or 10 ohms and no way to tell.

I think your best option is a second hand one if you can find one. Best of luck.
