[Guide] How to disable the rear window switch.


This is a guide on how to disable the rear window switch without losing control from the drivers 4-switch panel.

This is a standalone how-to guide related to this post.

To pull the switch out of the door, put a knife between the switch and the upholstery and gently raise the switch. The anchor points are shown here:

To disable the rear window switch you have to remove the middle wire from the 5-wire plug.

Removing an individual cable from the connector requires a needle or a very small flat screwdriver. Using the needle or the screwdriver, you have to raise the small plastic clip that's holding the cable in place and at the same time pull the cable out of the connector.

Put the plug back in the switch.

The rear window can now be operated only by the driver's 4-switch panel.

Don't forget to put some insulating tape around the removed pin.

Finally, put the switch back into place.

Time required: 10 minutes.

Tools required: a knife, a needle or a small flat screwdriver, insulating tape
