[Guide] How to remove the keysense plug

Here's a how-to guide on removing the keysense plug from the key cylinder and get rid of the warning beep when you open the door with the keys left on the ignition.

1) Remove the plastic housing of the key cylinder by slightly pressing the points in the red circles:

2) Next, pull it all the way down to uncover the cablings and connectors (sorry for the unsteady shot...):

3) Locate the keysense connector. It is right next to the cylinder (mine had white and blue wires).

4) Pull down the connector gently (pull the connector, not the cables!)

5) Just as a precaution, put some insulating tape around it.

6) Put the cover back and you are ready!

This was a great guide and I am so grateful for it, as this beep was absolutely doing my head in!.

What I would like to add to it is that the hardest part here was actually getting the steering column shroud to separate and come off!

I’ve taken a few pics of what the locking mechanism looks like so it might be clearer to someone else when they come along to try the same thing. I snapped some of the brackets a little trying to get it open; but it seems to be holding ok ish when back together.

Once you have pushed the bottom cowl in a bit and down past the ignition keyhole, it should begin to come away a fraction from the top cowl. At this point I have tried to show in the pics if they uploaded below that with the arrow in red, insert a thin flat head screwdriver and then push away from you in the direction of the yellow arrows to release the downward facing locking clip on each side. Then you should be able to release the bottom part from the top cowl, and you are free to make this change as described in the article above.
