TOYOTA TO LEASE OVER 150 PLUG-IN HYBRID VEHICLES ACROSS EUROPE
Toyota will lease over 150 units of its next generation Plug-in Hybrid Vehicle (PHV) to selected fleet customers across Europe as part of a three-year programme. Alongside France, Toyota is in discussion with three European countries, including the UK, Germany and the Netherlands.

AURIS ADVANCES ON ALL FRONTS WITH TOYOTA OPTIMAL DRIVE

Auris is the latest Toyota model range to reap the benefits in performance, fuel economy and emissions from Toyota Optimal Drive technology.
Following the introduction late last year of the Toyota Optimal Drive 1.33-litre Dual VVT-i engine with Stop & Start, Auris gains the new 1.6-litre Valvematic engine and revised versions of its established 1.4 and 2.0 D-4D and 2.2 D-CAT 180 units. The result is cleaner, more fuel-efficient motoring with no compromise in performance or driving pleasure, plus significant savings in ownership costs compared to its market rivals.

TOYOTA OUTLINES MOTOR SPORTS ACTIVITIES FOR 2009
Tokyo – TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION (TMC), which regards motor sports as an ideal medium for conveying the anticipation and excitement associated with automobiles, announces it plans to continue engaging in motor sports this year, despite being financially restricted by severe business conditions. TMC plans to focus on these top-class racing series: the FIA Formula One World Championship (F1), Japanese Super GT, Formula Nippon and NASCAR (National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing). TMC will also support young drivers expected to some day be competitive on the world stage.

TOYOTA iQ GAINS NEW 1.33 DUAL VVT-i ENGINE
Toyota’s incredible iQ, the world’s smallest four-seat car, gains a new engine option with the addition of a 1.33-litre Dual VVT-i petrol unit with Toyota Optimal Drive technology. Presented for the first time at the Geneva motor show, the new engine option will be available in the UK from late July, offered alongside iQ’s established 1.0-litre VVT-i petrol engine.

Toyota iQ and Avensis Achieve Top Euro NCAP Safety Rating
The Toyota iQ may be the smallest four-seater car on the market, but is also one of the safest according to new independent crash testing results from Euro NCAP.
Euro NCAP, which has developed a new rating scheme which focuses on the vehicle’s overall protection performance, awarded the tiny traffic buster 5-stars. iQ’s British-built big brother, the new Avensis, also earned a 5-star rating.
