'MONKEY BUSINESS'

Visiting a zoo often involves standing in the freezing cold gazing blankly into a grassy paddock which seems emptier than an elephant's bowel, but you always know that one set of animals will pack the crowds and entertain to the max, monkeys!

Pilot of this gleaming black Yaris, nicknamed 'Chimpy', follows his namesake's attention grabbing philosophy with a unique four-wheeled star attraction...

Dan's T-Sport has been in his possession since it rolled new from the dealership back in September 2002, then a standard pocket rocket but it wouldn't stay that way for long.

Previously a Golf fanatic the Toyota Technician has turned to the Jap side with a vengeance, although the crafty simian keeps his 'old-skool' Mk1 Dub GTI convertible for those sunny days with drop-top potential, as it should be. Past experience in the mod-mad Vee Dub world meant Dan knew exactly what he wanted from the Yaris and it wasn't long before the changes began.

Importing some of the first Europe bound Lexus-style lights for the hatchback - Dan also raided the HKS parts bin, tooling-up the dark destroyer with a top quality induction kit whilst fitting a full stainless steel exhaust system, including de-cat to free up some extra horses. TTE lowering springs bring the Yaris 30mm closer to the ground and reduce the arch gap to a set of 17' multispoke Kosei Sniper rims which grip the quarter mile tarmac with Avon boots.

The striking bodywork comprises of a flushed tailgate and an ultra-rare front spoiler, which was imported straight from the streets of Japan through styling moguls C-One. C-One also provide a set of headlight 'eyebrows' which lend the car an intense stare but the dominant modification has to be the massive Ferrari-F50 style vent which has been expertly grafted onto the bonnet. The finishing touch, a miniature number plate, ensures the front end looks more aggressive than a hurricane in a corn field and is enough to make even the hardened modder move over in ashamed defeat.

Classy modifications don't end on the outside though, behind the smoked windows sits this Toyota's crowd pleasing party piece, and no, it's not Dan! No less than three slim-line TV screens are fed digital images from a stashed DVD player; the result is huddled groups of on-lookers whenever the car is parked up at a meet, leaving other rides in the cold.

Plans to foil even an attention seeking cage of mischievous monkeys are already in motion. Dan's next modifications will evolve the audio-visual bonanza further, with the addition of not only a Playstation, but also a camera set-up with multiple views, reversing will have never been so much fun!

This T-Sport may not be a performance shattering record breaker, but, it's calculated style blended through innovative touches and unique alterations mean it grabs serious attention and deserves huge respect. 'Chimpy' certainly knows how to modify a Toyota, perhaps he'd care to park in that grassy paddock at the zoo, that way we'll all have something unusual and rare to admire.
