    MyToyota new app

The latest App 2.6.1 (240) Production is working well. Just used it to book a Service based on the predicted Service due date. Was able to chose the Service, the date, the time slot, and options such as a hire car, or wait. The service should take 2hr. Bargain price at £157.50/hr 🤑

    Anybody used this OBD reader?

Obd adapter almost all will work with your car, what is more important the app and software , what you can read and reset. I personally use Carista and I think these are very good one.
  4. 0w8 or 0w16 and at very bottom 0w20 , these are only oil viscosity types that you can use safely in your hybrid Toyota. Anything else is out of spec. Those 10w30 aren’t even so popular oils used in Europe, these are mostly USA and some Asian regions , perhaps difficult to find easily in shops either. Opieoils have them but they aren’t suitable for your engine. The problem is not only cold starts during cold weather, but any starts of the engine, since it’s a hybrid the engine starts and spins immediately at very high rpm so you need the right oil type and viscosity to have the required lubrication and protection.
  5. Hi everyone, I've been told at the dealer that the rubber car mats are no longer available for sale... I can't find another dealer with a parts department, Has anyone else heard the same? Where do you normally get your parts? Besides eBay?

    How much is enough?

Roy, you mentioned Shell out local is currently 162.9p I don't normally mention this as their prices have always been high.

Exhaust to loud 2013 1.6 petrol

My auris is 2013 as well, it had the noisy exhaust, I think there was a 'Sports' version at some point and they installed it on this model I think (that's my theory), after 2014 models has quieter exhaust. I bought a original exhaust nearly new from eBay, it was from a 2016 model that was stripped but the date stamped on the label was 2019, £110. Fitted myself, just needed a new gasket. Sold the sporty one back on ebay for £75 so not bad at all.

Turn big screen above vents off?

Any good ? I would love to have the big screen completely off too, and yes it is ultra annoying especially when I am driving at night on a dark country lanes.
  10. Hi Jack, the Toyota Corolla Touring Sports is a well regarded option for a reliable and efficient estate car, and sounds like it could be a good replacement for your Ford Focus.Toyota has a strong reputation for reliability, and the Corolla Touring Sports is no exception. It placed fourth out of 29 cars in the What Car 2023 Reliability Survey, and Toyota itself ranked second out of 32 manufacturers https://www.whatcar.com/toyota/corolla/estate/review/n19141. The Corolla Touring Sports comes in a hybrid version that offers excellent fuel economy and low running costs. This could be a significant advantage over your current Ford Focus 1.0 Ecoboost, depending on how much you drive. While not the most spacious estate on the market, the Corolla Touring Sports offers a decent amount of boot space, making it a good choice for most everyday needs. Owners reviews tend to be positive on its practicality https://mag.toyota.co.uk/toyota-corolla-touring-sports/. The Corolla Touring Sports boot space isn't quite as large as some rivals, particularly the Ford Focus estate you're familiar with. If you regularly carry a lot of luggage etc, this could be a factor to weigh up. https://www.topgear.com/car-reviews/toyota/corolla-touring-sports/interior. While known for reliability, the Corolla Touring Sports may not be the most exciting car to drive. It prioritises comfort and efficiency over a sporty feel. You can find reviews from owners to get a better sense of how it compares to your Ford Focus in terms of driving experience https://www.toyota.co.uk/new-cars/corolla-touring-sports/owner-reviews. Overall, the Toyota Corolla Touring Sports is a great choice for a reliable, efficient, and practical estate car. If those are your priorities, it's definitely worth considering. If you decide to go for it, be sure to factor in the boot space limitations compared to your current Ford Focus, and test drive one to see if you enjoy the driving experience.Hope this helps. And just remember it is a Toyota after all.
  11. Generally speaking eu versions of Corolla and most other models are better equipped than uk ones, like to like trim levels. Sad really, as Corolla is made in uk and comes less equipped for the domestic market.

Yes, that's with charging big battery.. About 65-70just in hybrid mode

    How much is enough?

At last some good news on the pump price front. The Petrol Prices App has just been updated. You can now search for prices for any, or a specific, brand, type of fuel and any area. It used to be a small fixed area. Now you can open the map, slew it, search here, then expand or recentre the map. For instance I prefer to use Shell and the points collected bring the price down by about 1.5p/ltr at the cost of refuelling £10 at a time, at more than 10 minute interval, and no more than 3 times in a day 😁. Being retired time is not of the essence. However today we need fuel and my route is devoid of Shell stations. Using the App however I can see that I could go to Kettering and get Shell at 142.7 or Tesco at 142.9 (too far). I am going to Oakham and have a choice of Esson at 144.9, Coop at 145.9 and BP at 149.9. If I wanted E5 it would be 155.2 at Esso and 166.9 at BP. Given my route it will be the Coop that I shall go to.

    Toyota Corolla

Corolla Trek, rarely available as used cars but it is really good choice for those who seek slightly higher seating position. The difference is only 2cm in height but these make the car more practical in all terms. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/196311183098?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=lNWVjC-UQ7W&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=p34UK1z2T4m&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
  18. Well, easily said the Corolla touring sport is the best car in its class and the strongest points are exterior design, drive trains ( best hybrid system), efficiency, reliability, and ease of use. These are also easy to maintain and relatively cheap.
  19. 0W8 oil has been out since at least the 2nd half of 2020 when the MK4 Yaris came out. My bottle.

    12v battery maintenance, issues, etc.

Had a 12v alarm a couple of days ago when it flagged up a voltage on my 17 month old YC of just under 12v. However this appeared to be a transient. Nevertheless I gave it a long charging session and after a settling period it stabilized as 12.75v on the 4th. On the 16th it was 12.56v with my car being driven normally every couple of days and 5 hrs on the 15th. This morning, the 18th, the voltage had dropped to 12.36v. Quite a drop in 2 days. The car had been driven for 42 min on the 16th and 3 hr on the 17th. The drop in voltage shows as a linear decline not withstanding the peaks on the 16th with2 cycles and 17th with 3 cycles. I shall certainly be watching it over the next week. In June we are away for 15 days so best I ensure my jumper pack is charged.

Steering knocking...whole column replacement mega bucks!

Just drive like this and don’t worry about it. Steering column knocking on most Toyota cars is very common fault and is not an safety issue or something that can deteriorate with time and mileage. It is becoming of drying lubricant on the telescopic splines for rake adjustment. My car was like that when I bought it many years ago at only 42k miles, didn’t bother to repair and now at 272k it’s still the same , knocking only in certain conditions and not an mot failure or safety any concerns. Save your money,

    Hazard Warning Switch Illumination

Maybe more importantly, the button should be backlit with the lights on so you can find it in the dark. I assume it is?
  25. Yes, exactly that. Well, that would be the logical deduction at least. Have you measured this over a longer trip? All the Toyota and Lexus cars that we have had, that had climate control would, crank up the heat - clearly a bit over the set temperature - for the first 30-40 minutes of a journey and then drop the temperature to at or just below the set temperature after that.

    Hazard Warning Switch Illumination

On my old MK1 Yaris, the button definitely flashes in time with the indicators. I notice this every time that I park on double yellows or a pedestrian crossing when I use the hazards for safety.
