Programming New Keys

I want to have a 3rd key for my car.

Should I go to the dealer I get a key and my wallet weighs a lot less.

Since I want the key to try something that's a waste of money.

Now I can buy a key with remote and transponder on eBay for only

a few £££ I can have a COMPLETELY NEW blade cut for a few £££ too.

Doing this will give me a key that will unlock the car, but not by remote.

And I can't start it either. I've read that for some Toyota's (and other brands)

there's a procedure involving a sequence of inserting and remving keys,

opening the drivers door and turning the ignition on and off.

Can anyone provide me with this sequence for the Aygo?

For both the transponder and the Remote???

TIA,

I recently made some enquiries on this very subject and the best price I could get from any of my local Dealers was £100 (all in) - which doesn't seem that bad in all fairness. Thankfully my supplying Dealer owed me a favour so I got one FOC.

I do not think there is a sequence as such for coding these keys as it has to be done with a live-link system to some Toyota database that clears the codes and replaces them with new ones when a key is added/removed.

Don't know how correct this is; maybe just the Dealer trying to justify his costs, but it would be very useful to know if a key could be manually coded to an Aygo...

I know I can get a key for about £100, which is sort of reasonable, but I don't really NEED a 3rd key.

Someone on our Dutch forum found flip-key cases for a 107, so these will fit the Aygo too.

These casings take the transponder and transmitter from your original key and make it into

a folding key. This all sounds and looks nice, but I don't realy want to mess up my original remote-

key. That's why I'm thinking about making an extra key with the bits from a second hand fob.

I allready found the procedure for the Yaris on this forum, but since the keys seem to be Peugeot-sourced

I'm guessing the transponder-system will be Peugeot-like too, so the procedure is probably different.

£100 seems reasonable to get a new key including programming, when I was quoted €350 here in Ireland from a key specialist! My original key is Valeo branded, so if the 107 and C1 are using the same system, then what works for the Peugeot should work for the Aygo. Even if you can't get it to work, you should be able to bring the key you have purchased to your local dealer to get them to program it.

If you find some key specialists that offer this service, you could ring them to pretend you are interested in getting them to program your key and see if you can find out what the process they use is, and this should give you a good idea if it is something you can do yourself.

You know, I hadn't even thought of that! I think I'll just take the

plunge, worst case scenario I'm out about £20, I think I'll survive :D

If you want to have a go with lexia on the aygo, gimmie a shout! Don't know if it will work, but might be interesting to try.

Today I had a chance to try programming several other keyfobs of mostly unknown origin.

All had good batteries in them, but I still was unable to program these fobs. A key from

another car workd at first try, so I'm 100% sure the procedure I have is the right one.

So apparently even if the fobs look the same, the internal protocols are still different between

the different model cars. Another ember on the Dutch forum DID get one "ebay-fob"

working, so that one probably WAS from a C1 and not just any same looking one...

Haven't been to the dealer too, as I'm doubting the fob I have now...
