Any advice on getting my 6 year old subborn discs off?

Or is just a case of brute force and ignorance with a big hammer :bash:

Have you removed the spline shaped bolt? It fits flush with the discs on the face of the hub. Thats what holds the discs on while the wheels are off, and sometimes on old discs you need to drill it out because sometimes it domes.

And yes, use a big hammer but do it while slowly rotating the discs or it will get diagonally stuck.

If it's the same as on a CTS (which it probably is) there's nothing holding the disc on except the wheel/caliper.

If it's a front disc, smack it carefully with a rubber mallet. Or beat the crap out of it if you're replacing it anyway.

If it's on the rear, make sure the handbrake shoes are retracted, then do as above.

There should be 2 tapped holes in the disc, screw a bolt in each and tighten in turn, this should force the disc off the hub equally without damaging anything. No need of the hammer!

Do you know what size bolts these would be? I thought that was what they were for and that they looked to be the right size to use the caliper carrier bolts, but it just seemed to strip the thread when I tried it!

M8 or M10

there is nothing holding the disc on. a few blows with a rubber mallet will have them off. hit them, then turn the disc a few degrees, hit a gain and keep working your way round. also a good soak in WD40 and lunch in between often helps.
