Hi,

Inputs on this one are welcome:

Is 75W/90 or ATF (Automatic Transmission Fluid) the best for a manual gearbox (in avensis T22)?

Haynes specifies it to use 75W/90 but I some cardealers use the ATF (Dexron type II or Dexron type III).

Thanks in advance.

I recommend you pay a visit to the internet car doctor (at least in my opinion) -

http://www.fixya.com/cars/toyota

Works like a charm, if you can't find your problem post one, within a day u'll have an answer.

Good luck!

Seems like you have to pay $10 at that page to get an answer :o) No thanks

"Automatic transmission fluid"

"Manual Gearbox"

The clues are in the names :)

ATF and gearbox oil are completely different things.

Gearbox oil is like engine oil but thicker.

ATF is a hydraulic fluid, like power steering or brake fluid.

They're not interchangeable!

Auto Transmission Fluid is otherwise known as Power Steering Fluid.

Its way too thin for a manual gearbox.

Some drag racers use it on the 1/4mile as it reduces tranmission loss...but it will destroy the gearbox very quickly.
