Difference Between Tr And T3?

I am getting close to buying my Auris. I have narrowed it down to 2 candidates this afternoon. Both are 07 plates. One is a silver steel TR, and one is a decuma grey T3. However the T3 has had several additions, including the chrome strip at the bottom of the tailgate, the protection pack and what the dealer called "side mouldings". I haven't actually seen the car yet, so I'm not sure exactly what this will look like. The dealer said that this makes the car effectively a TR.

What exactly is the difference in spec between a T3 and a TR? I know that the T3 was aimed at the fleet market, and the TR at the private market. I also know that the TR usually has the chrome strip on the tailgate, which I really like, and is one of the reasons why I would prefer a TR. What other differences are there externally and internally?

Maybe you can also help me make my decision on which one to go for? I will be part exchanging my existing car (SEAT Leon). The silver steel TR is at an independent Toyota specialist, and the net cost to me would be £6995. It has about 10 months left on the warranty. The decuma grey T3 (with extras) is at a Toyota franchise dealer, and would cost me £7700 net. It has 6 months left on the warranty, but the dealer would top it up to 12 months manufacturer's warranty. In addition I would get the Club Toyota package, and the car would be done up to showroom quality before I collected the car. My gut is telling me to go for the T3 because of the extra trimmings I get. On the other hand I could go for the cheaper TR, but in the event of there being any problems to sort out under the warranty, I was wondering whether I am more likely to get a better service from a Toyota dealer who sold the car, rather than from one who didn't. What do you think?

Thanks for your help.

As a fellow TR owner, I probably shouldn't say this but, because of the poor interior quality, creaking dash, worn seat, worn seatbelt panels, easily marked/scratched interior materials etc etc, I would not get an Auris! I recently acquired a 5 year olf Mk5 VW Golf and the quality of the interior, the way it drives/handles (and those lovely blue/purple instrument dials!) knock spots of my Auris IMHO

GOLDEN WORDS said above. Definetely agree with Doobs. Do not buy 1. Forget the differences or the chrome strip on the tailgate. The strip wont look so attractive once uv owned the car for more than a month. RUN and dont look at an auris again be it T2, T3, TR!!

Id go for a golf too. Amazing quality and worth the money.

All the best! :D

You can check for difference at toyota website. TR had manual A/C but it has chrome strip on tailgate and scuff plates but it was about £100o cheaper than T3 when new.

I have owned Golf before (mk v) and there were few in my family. It has nice interior and needs new engine every 10k miles, but that is different topic in different forum.
