Ok ive got an Avensis T180 estate and need two new tyres and been having a look about for prices as you do. BUt everyone where I have looked online they only list 205/55/R16 or 225/50/r17 as the supposed tyres options. But the car is fitted with 215/50/R17 91v (goodyear ncts as it happens) So do I have non spec tyres fitted or does the avensis take 215/50/r17 and its just not listed?

I havent checked the manual yet as its at home and im not.

Cheers Simon

AFAIK 215/50R17 are the "original" tyres for 2005+ Avensis with 17" rims. That may have changed in the new Avensis. In my opinion Bridgestone Turanza ER300 are better than Goodyear NCT5.

My avensis 2008 2.0 diesel hatchback has 215/50/R17 V Goodyear tyres fitted too. These are the original tyres fitted by Toyota. I have found Etyres.co.uk extremely efficient and their prices are excellent too. Their prices include fitting etc. and they come to your home or place of work (I have no connection with them other than being a satisfied customer!)

225/45/17 is cheaper to buy than 215/50/17...

But the ride would be even worse than it already is! Mine has 215/50/17 and it is a very hard ride even with the correct tyre pressures.

Pete.

I have found http://www.camskill.co.uk to be cheap in the past & also Roachford tyres @ http://www.alloywheels.com/tyres.asp?width...=50&size=17

The best tyre I have found is the Continental Sport Contact 2. Below is a link for results of the rating. They are fantastic in the dry & wet, but not great in the snow, if we get any & the wear is fantastic.

Will be trying the Sport Contact 3 tyres
