Now you see my theory is... Toyota release a less attractive 0-60 time for there corolla T sport...because if they released the real 0-60 time (what ever tha may be) then they would tread on the toes of what is ment to be there 'sports' car range the celica and MR2... so im saying they publish a slower 0-60 time then real life simply as a marketing ploy....So if someone wants a sporty toyota then on paper the celica and mr2 will look a more attrative option...as the corolla is more in the family orientated range...

Obviously those of us in the know, know diffrent ;)

I for one when i was looking at getting the T sport thought that 0-60 was bull as the maths didnt add up when you compair the stats of the CTS agaisnt the CTR....

Then you drive one and none of the above bull crap in this thread matters! Thats the main point.....!!!

Agreed! It's more fact than theory.... Toyota couldn't have an "old man's hatchback" with the same stats as it's 'flagship' sports car

Ninosport - As you're near me i'm quite happy to prove this theory!

Better yet get a stopwatch and we'll time it!

The gear ratios won't allow lift from 1st to 2nd, that is correct.

The only way to do it is to slip the clutch - which is what makes it possible.

As for comparing to a Starlet.

One of my best mates had one, rolling roaded at 129bhp (so standard and healthy). There was very little in it at low speeds, with the Corolla being slightly quicker at higher speeds.

i went for an uprated clutch need to get it adjusted but i can keep in lift 1st to second much easier. It allows for quicker disengagement in 1st and then quiccker engagement into 2nd. would defo recommend it.
