run the petrol down into the reserve and fill up with v power then re set the ecu back up to the full power map'to do this turn the ignition till your dash lights are on do not start hold accelerator to the floor untill the eml light flashes four times usually 40 seconds then take foot off throttle and start your on the full power map now.only use 98 ron fuel, but i have used 97 before and was just the same as 98ron (ran the same).

once you've got it running on the proper fuel, it does normally rattle slightly at low revs anyway, it says in the compressor supplement that comes with the manual. nothing to worry about, just make sure it's nothing to do with the exhaust...

Its probably your manifold heatshield. common problem! when the engine struggles in gear...like for example slowly moving off or rolling at low speed in second its like a chatter as you pull away. Its your manifold heatshield. When the engines cold look behind the top of the engine and you will see the manifold heat shield. If you can tighten it or push it away from any metals if not get someone to do it for you!

will the manifold heatshield need replacing if it is that ?

thats your problem the ecu is on a safe map so the engine wont get damaged you must put Shell v power or tescos 99 in or super unleaded for the compressor.what is happening is the engine is "pinking" under load at low revs ,ecu reset when correct fuel is used is the only answer or you will damage the engine if you carry on using standard 95 fuel.

Yes.Do and ecu reset and get some v-power 100 and that's enough. If not check the exhaust system keepers also.

thanks for all your help guys when it empty i will do what you have suggested and see how i get on

if you haven't driven the car on the proper fuel map before, you'll notice a fair difference in performance once you get the proper fuel in and reset the ecu - when i got my compressor, the garage who i bought it from had obviously been using bog standard fuel, and whilst it pulled like a train, there was something just not right, a lot of unwanted sluggishness and pinking going on - however - once i filled up with bp ultimate and a miller's octane booster (can only get up to 97 octane from the pump in northern ireland) and then reset the ecu, the difference was f**king unreal!

Hi

No need to set your ecu as the T Sport can run on 95, just fill up with tesco 99 or Shell v power next time and you should notice a difference! Its only the compressors ecu that needs reseting after filling up with 95 ron fuel as said before the compressor should only be run on 97/98 ron fuel.

Just had my manifold replaced and i've started getting that rattling sound between 1-2k. must be the heat shield, if the car is rattling enough to hear it inside because of an internal engine problem there aint no way in hell better fuel will fix that!
