Well it's happened again. This time they have busted the passenger lock - looks like they have bashed it out. Any idea on the cost to replace the lock, or will it be an insurance job (think my excess is £200).

£50 sounds reasonable - I'll go to see Mr T today

Well Mr T has come back with a price

£900

Yep that's right, apparently that is for new parts, labour, VAT - including skimming the door????

Insurance Job

The bodywork just around the lock is slightly indented - I would have though a hammer on the back would suffice, but according to Mr T this would not be enough for Toyota Paintwork Warranty.

A car of mine some 15 years ago had this happen to the drivers door and it made my wallet £700 lighter to fix it then, so £900 allowing for price rises may be not so far off the mark.

dammed annoying when it happens though
