Hello everyone

I have a 2001 toyota avensis 1.8 vvti

My driver side steering rack has snapped and i was wondering if anyone knows how to remove it.

any help is appreciated.

Hi Shabs,

When you say the steering rack has snapped - do you mean the actually body of the rack or is it the outer or inner track-rod ends have failed. The outer and inner track-rod ends can be replaced in situ., although the inner unit can be a tricky job.

When you say the steering rack has snapped - do you mean the actually body of the rack or is it the outer or inner track-rod ends have failed. The outer and inner track-rod ends can be replaced in situ., although the inner unit can be a tricky job.

hi it isnt the track rod end it snapped the bar from the track rod end if you know what i mean

Sounds to me like you mean the track rod has snapped but how you've managed that I dont know. Can be changed in situ if you know what you're doing, if not, change the whole rack.
