Hi everyone,

Long time no write :D

I bought this power box for my avensis:

It worked really good the first time e tested it, but the next day when the car was cold i started it and after 1 km it failed and the engine light came on.

After further testing i noticed that when the car was hot it worked fine but when the car was cold it failed.

If i can get this box running i will be very glad because when the car is hot it's really good the rev power start's at about 1700rpm and continues till 3200rpm

no problem, and the car feels really good

Has anyone had this problem with a power box?

Ah the good old fleabay resistor box. All this box does is fool the ECU into thinking the incoming air is cooler than it really is therefore the ECU will allow more fuel to be dumped in. So in essence the ECU will be confused when engine temps vary. Now you know why the ECU is throwing its dummy out of the pram.:) Also over-fuelling may reduce the life of the fuel injectors.

P.S. Many car enthuisists have made their own tuning box using components from the likes of Maplins for a whole really expensive £3-50.:)

Above posting pretty much cover's your problem. Another crap product from S_ _ _ B _ _ that just dumps more fuel into your engine. Try Parts - king (Official Toyota-Dealership) for details of power kit they sell, i believe it works via injectors, rather than fooling ECM unit. Try asking Parts-King & Seller who provided you with you troubled power kit some technical questions, i think you will find out pretty quick which one has the knowledge. Sorry, i know this will not fix your car, but it will give you another option should you not come up with rectification for kit you have fitted.

PS: To any interested parties, i am aware that many FORUM USERS have other kit's (Spider, Venom etc etc) that work perfectly well. So don't turn posting into my power kit is bigger & better than your power kit. And yes i know the Parts-King power kit is not an official Toyota kit.

So i noticed before the box was in the usualy when the car was cold the engine stoped the reving at about 2400rpm, just like it was cutting the injection so the car doesnt go that fast until it is hot enought.

so that must be the problem the real ecu is sayin go slow and the box says go fast end then the orange light comes on and the car rpm falls to 1000rpm and stops there :(

Im still posting with the seller to see if there is a solution for this..

The Official TTS tunning box cost 1000€ that i think its to much. i found another one from chiptunning in belgium that was 680€ that i also think its to much.

So i bought this one 100€ what was i especting yo happen :) this way i dont loos to much money.

How much is the parts king one?

How much is the parts king one?

I have the Parts-King's T180 tuning box on my Avensis. I can vouch for it. Excellent product and works just like promised. Also doesn't just increase fueling but also increases the boost pressure a bit to ensure that the excess fuel gets burnt. This will save you from an expensive CAT replacement :)

I also had a cheap German racechip before my current box, and that was pure crap. It didn't work like promised. Same problems, car worked fine when cold but when hot, didn't start properly and also the engine light came on randomly.

My box was around 450 € delivered to Finland. Can't give you the exact figures as the conversion rates for the currency have probably changed by that time.

I don't know the exact figures as I haven't dynoed the car. But the rough estimate was around 25 % increase in both power and torque. So in my case that would mean 126 -> 160hp and 310Nm -> 390Nm. And it really feels like it. The car pulls unbelievably good through the rev range. On 3rd gear under hard acceleration when the needle hits the 2k rpm mark, you'll FEEL the extra power as you're been glued to the seat. No kidding :)

Fuel economy is a bit better even when I've been trashing the car really hard. I've just been enjoying the extra power :)

I had the 2006 prefacelift 116 hp Avensis previously, and tried 3 different tuning boxes on it, both expensive and cheap ones. The two cheap ones didn't work at all, one of them gave me a engine lamp on, and the accelerator pedal didn't work after the lamp came on. Other one didn't do anything, not even the lamp.

The expensive one (€600) did work, but not as expected. Acceleration time from 80-120 km/h 7,1 against 7,7 sec when original in 3rd (5 speed transmission). Measured with a stopwatch and the speedo, but the times indicated what i was getting at least.

Now I have bought a new box from Lindop to my T27 Avensis T180, cost me £356 as we are outside the EU here in Norway, £410 delivered inside EU.

Will post a review here when I get it.

I have Avensis D -4D 116 HP and bought Power Box from the same seller as AvensisPT did. And it doesn't work at all. Even I can't make the engine lamp to light on. I'm thinking I didn't plug it at the right place because I think it should be somewhere around the common rail. Please - Avensis PT - can you post a picture with the place where you fitted it.
