Hi

I have a 01 toyota avensis d4d , that was sluggish to start last night and this morning, Then I tried it again there now and it wont start at all, the lights on dash come on , but all I hear is a clicking noise, tried jumpl leads and the same thing.

Any ideas what it could be, starter I was thinking

Also would a tow get it started so I can drive it to garage

Also any ideas what the cost of a starter would be

Cheers

Sounds like the Battery or a dogy connection. But if you say you put jump leads on and it still clicks, then I would check all your connections from the Battery to the earth on the body, and from the Battery to the starter motor. I don't think that it is anything more than that.

Yes the car should start with a push.

hi mate

yes clicking noise is only clicking but the grease lack does not allow solenoid stem to switch ON the starter power contacts.

So have solenoid serviced first + charge Battery and try again.
