my corolla is need of a cambelt change I was wondering what is the price from different dealers/independent places for changing the camblet?

Also what is the price of the genuine Toyota camblet for the car?

Personally I would say purchase a genuine cambelt from Toyota dealer and then have it fitted by a local specialist. It's better to save money that way rather than buying cheaper cambelt and having the dealer fit it.

ok correct me if iam wrong, and i may be but is a cambelt not a timing belt, and do all corollas not have timing chains since 02, which dont need replacing unless the links get weak ?

According to a Corolla manual here: (Page 16, engine section)

http://www.toyota.co.uk/bv/1024-heritage/B...rolla_Dec04.pdf

The petrol corollas have timing chains whilst the diesel corollas have timing belts :crybaby:

Unless Im reading it wrong? It says DOHC chain drive for the petrol models and DOHC belt drive for the diesel models

As far as I knew timing belt/cambelt is the same thing. The 2.0D4D has a belt which you should change about 60k 'cos the mess can be quite big if it snaps.

Belt is approx £35+VAT from Toyota. Plus about 4 hours labour. Not a bad job to do yourself if you know what you're doing
