Hi everyone, I'm a new member and am hoping someone can give me some advice on my problem.

Last week I heard a faint beeping noise coming from the car. I opened the dooor and the alarm went off - very loudly......according to the neighbours! It seemed that the Battery was flat, so I got my jump leads and hooked it up to my wife's Rav4. All the lights, radio etc were working but I couldn't even get a click when i turned the ignition. The alarm kept going off so I managed to turn off the Toyota anti theft system which has been in the car from scratch.

It's dead at the moment and I need it for Wednesday as I take the kids to school.

I'm hoping it's only a Battery problem and not an immobilisor issue, or someting else, but I hope somebody can advise.

Cheers, John. :)

Most alarm systems work on the voltage drop principle so a duff Battery is bery likley to cause problems with the alarm so it would be prudent to get the Battery load tested checked out. Don't rely on a voltage test alone.:)

Yep,mine went off (about 1,000 decibels) when the cold cranking amps dropped below 50%.New Battery, did the key sync trick (below),and everything fine for a few days. Then the siren kept making a quietish noise all day and night.Disconnecting the siren shut that up.

Disconnect Negative Battery terminal leaving positive connected.(Make sure drivers window is down as car may lock)

Put key in ignition and turn on, Leave on.

Reconnect Battery terminal.

Switch off ignition and remove key.

Press black button and hold for ten seconds.(this works for fobs with two black buttons as well, basically press the "close" button).

Get the battery tested at Halfords for cold cranking amps.Free check if you ask nicely but make sure the tester knows what they're doing as the Bosch testers need to be set correctly.
