Maybe the distributor cap is faulty? Check the connector ends by taking off the red cap. I know you say there is power but it might be on and off.

And are the leads properly plugged onto the plugs, with no bent connections or corrosion etc.

the leads are all plugged in correctly

i have checked the plugs

i also have changed the distrubutor cap

and checked the efi relay under the bonnet on the passenger inner wing

If your sure your getting fuel and a spark at the plug how about taking the plugs out and drying them on your gas hob, pop them back in and it might start, the cylinders might be flooded with fuel if you've been trying all day to start it.

Has it been sitting for a while? Your fuel in the tank may have "gone off" or decomposed which does happen if left for a while.

I dont know a great deal about your particular engine but, if you are adamant you have fuel getting through and a decent spark:

Are the valves opening ?

Have you checked compression ?

Compression + Air + Fuel + Spark = Combustion ??

So you have had checked or checked yourself the compression of each cylinder?

How was it checked ?

if you have a spark (and it is a good one) and fuel it has to be timing related, either the plug lead firing order is wrong or there is somthing more serious wrong

all sorted

thanks for your help

timing was ok but the rotar arm was at number 4 position

when it was suppose to be at number one when timing marks aligned up

distrubutor removed and refitted

started 1st turn of the key
