Key Battery

Hi. This may seem like a silly question but here goes anyway. I have a 2006 Verso tr [1.8 petrol] As you will know there isn't an ignition key but an engine start button. My question is if the Battery goes in the 'key' can I start the car?, I know you can unlock the door manually but what happens if the Battery expires. Should I carry a spare Battery? Any comments would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi!

It will start with dead key-battery. You have to unlock the doors with the metal key and then use the start-button inside as usual. When the smartkey gets it signal from the button it will be able to send info back to start the car. Just like smartkeys in hotels etc...

I think you have to put the smart-key very close the button with the toyota emblem towards the button but I'm not sure.

In the new Verso (probably all cars with smart-key), the system will warn you when the Battery is reaching the end of its lifespan.

So it's not often you will be there with a dead Battery...

Hi Timo. Thanks for the quick reply. I thought it would be unlikely to be left stranded but you never know. Thanks again.
