As the title suggests... what needs changing on the 60,000 mile service?

I read in one thread that the spark plugs need changing, i checked them the other day when i was changing the lift bolts and they seemed ok.

Cheers

When i did my 60k service it was mainly just an Oil & Filter change... spark plugs had been done at 40k by the dealer, dunno why.

Other things i did at the time were change the Lift bolts (which you've done) and just check my discs and pads

so i dont need to bleed the brakes or change the coolant then?

Not sure when my plugs were last changed, may change them anyway just to be on the safe side

You shouldn't really need to 'bleed' the brakes.... changing the brake fluid should be done every 2 years tho ;)

Didn't change the coolant in mine... but upon inspection... there wasn't much coolant in it so just topped it up!

I'm getting my 60k service done by Mr. T for £202, Is it worth it?

Doesn't seen like they're replacing anything big, but the service manual claims the ancillary drive belt and valve clearance will be inspected

I was quoted £140 by Mr T for my 60k service....

Did it myself for less than £20 in the end

I just cant justify spending all that money on a service, i do about 20,000 miles a year, so thats two services, and i dont think a stamp in the book is worth £300 a year. Although i keep all the recipts and a list of what was changed and at what mileage.

How did you do a service for £20, isnt 5l of oil more than that?! think my last service (50,000 mile) cost me £40-£50 and that included gear box oil

5 litres of oil from Mr T was just under £13 :D

Err.... semi i think... will have to check!

Mr T had oil on special offer... then the parts guy discounted it further :wacko:

No harm in calling your local to get a price

What's the best thing to clean the plugs with? Will acetone do it?

They smelt really bad when I took them out last weekend, really bad electrical smell
