Hey guys

I want to pull out my factory exhaust system on my gen7 2000 VVTLI 190. I have gotten a couple of quotes.

They say to pull the cat out, replace with 2 inline 2.5" cobys and new box on the rear 8" x 4" x 14" c/o 2 1/2" OCHAM, whatever that means. Anyways , they had concerns that there may be a CEL sensor around the cat and by removing the cat, it may trip the sensor. They asked if I could confirm before going ahead and booking in. Can anyone confirm this? and if its there, is there an easy way around it?

Thanks

In other words, have any of you removed your cat and replaced with something else and NOT had the CEL come on?

You'll get a CEL by removing the cat. The ECU needs to see that the cat is doing it's job.

There are however tips for making a little circuit for fooling the car that all is well somewhere.

It's worth pointing out that it will be much louder without a cat.

Oh thanks for pointing that out.

I want to replace the exhaust system with something that will give me max performance without too much noise. Perhaps replace the cat with a high flow cat instead? What do u guys do?

PPE engineering do an 02 conidtioner which goes between the ecu and the sensor, giving it a false reading, which keeps the Engine check light off.!

Think its only around $20 delivered aswell!

Sooo.... I got my celica back, wow - its a new car lol, sounds amazing.

NO CAT installed. Instead, has 2 in-line resonators, mandral piping and connected to a sports muff. AND "NO" check engine light either...sweeeeet :-)
