Gear Shift Squeak

Hi,

I just bought a used 04 Corolla with a manual transmission, and I have noticed that when I shift into or out of a gear, I hear a squeak, even when the car is off. It happens during shifting right as I get the slight resistance when going into or out of a gear. Any ideas? If there has already been a post, please point me in the right direction as I haven't been able to find anything yet.

Any help would be great.

Think the ball joint or the cable on the gearstick needs greasing or oiling. I note you are in Canada so I am not sure what the interior looks like but if its like the EU spec ones. Remove the trim around the gear leaver and you'll see the cables and ball joint, a dab of grease on there should sort you out.
