Bye Bye Suv

Recommended Posts

Finally managed to lower my car:

- better handling, less body roll

- looks how it should

- ride comfort just a little bit compromised

- fuel economy seems to improve 4-5 mpg. I did my best ever mpg (39.1) this weekend ( London-Reading-PortMounths-Around-Isle-of-Weight-Reading-London)

I did 277miles and the needle just dropped below half, Normally it drops below half sooner. First I thought the fuel gauge was broken :), also noticed this on trip computer, doing 70mpg before was like 35 mpg, no it display 40 mpg.

It sits on Eibach pros. However the front seem to be lower than the back. I have 3 cm clearance at front and 5-6 cm at back ( without load )

the maximum I would go is 195/17/45. But right now I'm quite happy as it is :)

fuel economy seems to improve 4-5 mpg

must be because you lost all the drag from all of how much extra height.

yeah plus I can go around corners/roundabouts faster, so I don't loose speed, less energy wasted to accelerate again.

What’s involved in setting up wheel tracking?

Do u have to loose some screws that u can forget to tighten?

Reason I’m asking because I went into kwik-fit this weekend to check and setup wheel tracking ( it was 2 degree off )

But the guy was constantly on his phone and what if he forgot to tighten some screws between to calls and the wheels just fall off ?

wouldnt use kwik fit for tyres nevermind for the tracking. i would recommend a decent specialist who will do a fast road set-up which makes all the difference and make the most of your set-up. the turn in will be massively improved meaning you cant resist caning it into corners as the feel is much improved allowing more confindence and smoother cornering. also being correctly set-up will reduce rubber wear and improve fuel economy which will keep the more retentative amongst us happier

I heard so many bad things about ****fit that I'm pretty sure never go back there...

Can the rear wheels be adjusted on a T-Sport or front wheels only?

if u drive it carefully it's very economical: means shift before 3000RPM, max speed 65MPH and don't brake(if not necessary) ! just engine brake. I agree it's dead boring, but sometimes this driving still is needed( old passengers, etc). I managed to get 500miles out of a tank couple of times.

I believe driving style is to most contributing factor to fuel economy. Like in topgear, they proved an M3 is more economical than a prius: they trashed the prius and just followed it with the M3 on a track.

M3: 19MPG

Prius: 17MPG
