Britain Facing Bank Holiday Washout

Britain's bank holiday weekend gets noticeably chillier on Sunday after heavy downpours threatened to turn it into a washout.

Temperatures across the country will struggle to make it into double figures, as widespread showers that lashed the country overnight gradually clear away.

People also face public transport disruption across the country, with widespread engineering work causing delays and bus replacement services on several major rail routes.

Tom Tobler, forecaster for MeteoGroup, the weather division of the Press Association, said north-easterly winds would make it feel even colder.

Showers which hit Wales, the Midlands and south-east England hardest will gradually clear away but the winds will see daytime temperatures plummet to between 7C (45F) and 11C (52F).

Mr Tobler said: "The rain is going to still be hanging around across south-eastern and central-southern England during Sunday morning. It will gradually clear away south-eastwards. It's going to be quite windy as well and noticeably cooler."

Bank Holiday Monday will see more sunny spells, but the cold winds will see similar temperatures to Sunday.

It's all because I cleaned the BBQ and bought some beer... cursing.gif

Fret ye not.

We were supposed to get all that, this Bank Holiday weekend, too, but it didn't happen, YET :ermm:

My grass got cut in blazing Sunshine & hedges trimmed yesterday. Mind you, there was a shower of hail :(

Today was bright & sunny, mostly - an odd showers of drizzle, & it is a bit on the chilly side, now.

Tomorrow ? Who knows ? probably not the Met Dept :lol2:

Just for the benefit [?] & annoyance of those who inhabit the "wrong" Island :yahoo::lol:

As I look out my window, the Sun is blazing down . We have had a few spots of rain [ wipers on intermittent]. It is a bit cool, but the day is passably pleasant :lol2: Might even go for a walk in my shirt sleeves, later

The weather Dept got it wrong. However, with their form, it will hit us tomorrow :ermm:
