post-94460-127494138268_thumb.jpgI am seriously considering buying a 1971 Toyota Celica from overseas. It is in perfect condition and going for a good price. I am willing to pay for getting it shipped over to Ireland. I just wanted to know if anybody has any experience with this car. Websites say it was known to be very reliable and fairly fuel economic. Am I likely to encounter any problems bringing this into Ireland, registering it, insuring it, etc. I have never seen one in Europe and was looking for information before taking the plunge.

Yes that's a picture of the car, the yellow Celica ST.

I have bought it now and it is on its way :yahoo:

I am in Australia at the moment but found the car in New Zealand. One previous owner, an ex-soldier who picked it up during his service in the Phillipines. Its never been modified and was only taken out of the garage occasionally so is practically new. Hopefully the Irish weather won't be too much of a shock to it.

If anybody has tips of preventing rust in advance I'd like to hear about them. Or if there are any places to keep an eye on for water collecting etc.
