Charcoal Canister

Where might I find the charcoal canister on a 2008 1.8vvti petrol car?

I believe this is a service item.

What would be the character of a fault with the canister if is hasn't been replaced for a long time?

Any practical advice will be appreciated. :yahoo:

I'm not entirely sure, but I don't think the charcoal is a service item.

The charcoal box is connected via a vacuum valve to the inlet manifold.

The idea is, to suck up fumes that build inside the fuel tank and burn them as the engine runs.

That proces and vacuum is controlled by the ECM.
